I totally recommend this book (even if the first half of Savage Kingdom is a bit of a struggle as it was for me), it was worth it. Their camaraderie is funny and the scene when Damien comes to Bastian’s room when Gideon is there, is hilarious. I loved the fact that he and Bastian become friends, though he is totally jealous that Bas had been with Daphne in the past. The romance with Gideon is hot! For someone who lacks empathy, he turns out to be a great boyfriend to her. It was about as terrible as you can get without being murdered at a young age, but the fact that she is trying to make things better, not just for herself but for others is her redemption.
To say her background was awful is to say I just sort of like hot guys with great abs. We find out more about her reasons in this book, but also she is actually doing something to change her circumstances in this book. I think it was mainly because she could do something about some of the things she was enduring but didn’t. I just couldn’t get “in” to Savage Kingdom until the last half of the book and I didn’t like Daphne at all. However, they can’t get over the fact that they are feeling things for each other. They never thought they would have feelings one way or another. The Love Story: Both Gideon and Daphne never thought they would have feelings for anyone else.
She is still a tough and dangerous person but much more relatable in this book. We also find out more about her awful childhood. We find more about what exactly she is doing with the Sekt. The heroine: Daphne (Petal) – I liked Daphne a lot better in this book. Now he wants revenge but also wants to get back at everyone who hurt her in the past (conflicted much?). He was betrayed and left for dead by the heroine Daphne. The Hero: Gideon – Alpha male, former spy for Great Britain.
